Ghetto Cowgirl

Azealia Banks just dropped a video for “Van Vogue.” The clip was directed by fashion photog Rankin and debuted on his magazine’s site– HungerTvcom. Overall, I’m feeling it. The ’90s R&B/hip-hop era styling–channeling some Janet Jackson and Aalyiah– is hitting the right nerve. She definitely has gone full on Ghetto Cowgirl Rapunzel with a witch twist, which I’m also totally feeling. She’s cleaned up her look from her “212″ mall-rat Clare’s explosion, to something more ownable– DaddyLikes. What I don’t like is the low-budget feel of this video. I guess her “Licorice” eat up all the video funds? What gives? I love this track and it deserves a better clip. I’m not hating on this, I’m just saying that it could have been amplified by some funds.
